We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and experienced full-time in-home caregiver to provide essential care for a 12-year-old child with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and moderate intellectual disability on a long-term basis. Since autism and intellectual disability are lifelong conditions, this role requires specialized experience and a caring approach.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience working with children with autism and/or intellectual disabilities. Responsibilities include assisting with hygiene, feeding, toileting, and dressing while encouraging the child’s independence.
You will maintain structured routines and a calm environment to support emotional regulation and prevent meltdowns. The role also involves implementing sensory activities and behavior strategies, promoting communication and social interaction through guided play, ensuring safety during daily tasks, and adapting care plans in collaboration with parents and professionals to support the child’s development and family stability.
Responsibilities:
- Assume full responsibility for the household in the absence of parents
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties
- Travel with the family on trips and assist with child supervision and housekeeping
- Wash, iron, and press clothing and household linens
- Discipline children according to parents’ guidelines
- Instruct children in personal hygiene and social development
- Maintain a safe and healthy environment at home
- Organize activities such as games and outings for children
- Supervise and care for children
- Transport children to and from school and appointments
- Support the emotional well-being of children
- Assist children with homework
- Prepare meals for the child
- Provide assistance to children/students with special needs
- Assist clients or guests with special needs
Qualifications:
